I joined the Yahoo group that you recommended to keep track of your developments. In my opinion the most interesting part of your work with the FPGA is the software part. Since I'm an ASIC designer I don't think that implementing the hardware is the difficult part given that you wrote down the specifications for the core. It looks like you put a lot of work into the software, so I was curious if you will ever make the source to that available so that it can be ported to various platforms like the Xess boards.

If I am at the origin of the real time kernel FORTH system described in this website, I did not develop the code of the FPGA. So, it is thus not my property. This is the work of another person who joined my idea. The card was developed by a Swiss school of engineer which could plan to build small series if enough people as you are interested. I invite you to join the mailing list associated to my website to be informed of the future evolutions. It is necessary that I think of an english version of the OS X emulator ; -) Best regards.

Your system looks very interesting - as a hardware engineer I imagine that one could use it to build small but powerful projects very quickly. For instance if I wanted to build an I2C analyzer I could put a small amount of additional hardware in the FPGA and write a nice GUI in forth. Or maybe I would put on a few more UARTs and build something to process MIDI,... It looks to me like you could easily target a board like those sold by www.xess.com if you want to let people try it out on hardware that they can order. (Not sure that you want to sell your hardware platform) Do you plan on selling this eventually? If not will you put the source code up later? Thanks for the OS X version - at first I couldn't figure out how to build it because I can't read french ;-) Regards, Keith

J'avais déjà eu l'honneur de communiquer avec vous dans le cadre de la publication d'un article concernant vos travaux dans "Le Virus Informatique". Je suis enchanté de constater que vote passion est toujours aussi vive. Je pense en effet que l'avenir se joue autant dans de modestes laboratoires comme le votre que dans les salles climatisées de multinationales ISO9002. Bravo donc, et bonne continuation.

C'est très gentil de votre part mais sachez tout de même qu'il ne s'agit que d'un modeste bricolage qui répond à la limite du théorème de SHANNON. La fréquence d'échantillonnage est de 12 MHz ce qui permet de restituer correctement les couleurs mais pas la définition de la luminance (bande passante légèrement supérieure à 6 MHz en SECAM et PAL).C'est donc en dessous de la qualité du DVD mais relativement performant par rapport aux moyens employés :-)

You are right, I am the author of this FORTH system. FORTH is a very powerful language and this website is there to prove it (I hope ;-).
