I have finally decided to break down and look up how to do those tough ones. My system has 'simply' been to eliminate: if either a1 or A3= 4, then. . . A3 must be 8, therefore A3 can't be 4. But it seldom takes me all the way. Thank you for your help.

The explanations of the 'code' of notations was by far the besr I have found, and served to correct my understandings of some lesser presentations, It represents a lotof work to have such an informaative web site. Just to say, having only now read your most recent comment on your main sudoku page - yours are, in general, the only comments I have ever found worthwhile reading on sudoku.com.au. I go there for the sudoku, not for the socialising, and had been wondering what had happened to the mainstay of technical comments on the tough sudokus. In particular, I had become accustomed to not needing to check for myself if the puzzle was the same as one posted already, as you would generally say so. ^__~ Oh - and I have seen far poorer English from those for whom it is a first language than from you - you need not be so self-concious about it.

Hi gb, Regarding Sudoku 10th December After your last posting I decided to try some other FCs. Not sure if you are interested but here goes: At 29 filled If g5=6 a FC along rows 2 & 5 eventually leads to both d3=3 and d5=3 impossible If g5=3 it quickly leads to a2=5 and a4=5 - impossible. Therefore g5=4 and h5=5 Leads to 54 filled. If e3=2 c3=4 and b2=4 impossible Leads to 60 filled & takes care of all the 6s +3s. If h8=5, h7=7, b7=2, b8=4, e8=5 – impossible leads to 81 filled. This one got hold of me and I spent way too much time on it today. I did get time for a walk to the market and along the beach and a few household chores - but tomorrow I think I'll take a break. bravo pour cette belle performance! Alissa est superbe! Voilà ma curiosité satisfaite grâce à Sylvana qui m'a signalé que je pouvais voir le reportage sur votre site. C'est chose faite! Comme c'est amusant cette nouvelle formule. Pour ce qui est de la ressemblance je trouve qu'ils le sont par le teint mais pas par les traits, Mais ca change si vite tout ca!
